Background – how it all came about

Melvyn Rutter, owner and managing director, has been in business for the last 27 years on his own account, primarily involved in the sale and service of Morgan sports cars, on an International basis. This brought him into contact with many UK and overseas customers looking for special parts for their beloved cars.

From the very early days, the ability to either make in-house or have components made by other British firms to exacting standards, became his forte. His well designed products, which were new to the market place, became an instant success and this product development continues today.

At the same time as all this was going on, an interest in badge design and production flourished, with many badges being requested by car clubs around the world. Melvyn had a long time friend who had been manufacturing badges and medals for the last 40 years and when the opportunity arose, Melvyn purchased the assets and stocks of his Company. Production was then duly transferred down to Little Hallingbury where he has been based since 1982.

The tremendous amount of skilled hand workmanship which goes into badge production, fits in very well with the hand built nature of the Morgan car, for which he is a Main Dealer.

Colmet Plus is able to manufacture all sorts of badges, medals, etc. and does not stick to automobile based products only, which are just part of the business. From whatever background or source of the enquiry, we have been able to produce merchandise for clubs, organisations, sports teams, institutions, schools, hospitals and Companies.
